Tuition-Free, Online School for Third Grade in Arizona
Third grade is an important year when students build on earlier foundations and begin tackling more complex concepts. At Virtual Prep Academy of Arizona, our tuition-free, accredited online 3rd grade program helps children grow academically and socially in a flexible, supportive environment, all from the comfort of home.

Online Third Grade Overview
For many families across Arizona, traditional classrooms aren’t always the right fit. Online elementary schools can provide an alternative third grade experience that offers flexibility, safety, and a learning experience designed around each child’s needs. As your student progresses, they can continue seamlessly into Arizona online middle school and eventually online high school.
At Virtual Prep Academy of Arizona, certified teachers lead live classes while families provide support at home as Learning Coaches. Together, this partnership ensures students stay engaged, motivated, and confident as learners.
How Does Online Third Grade Work?
Here’s how online learning works for VPREP students:
Students in our Arizona online 3rd grade program experience a balance of teacher-led instruction and independent learning. A typical day includes live classes in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, along with self-paced assignments that allow for practice and exploration.
At-home support is just as important. Parents or guardians act as Learning Coaches; their priority should be to help establish routines, reinforce lessons, and celebrate progress. Our easy-to-use platform and dedicated staff make it simple for families to stay connected and supported.
Live SessionsStudents log on each day and engage with the material through scheduled live lessons and independent study.
Learning CoachesLearning Coaches (often a parent or guardian) provide structure and encouragement at home.
Regular Check-insRegular check-ins with teachers and Student Success Coordinators help your child stay on track
24/7 Platform AccessStudents and parents have 24/7 access to course content and other planning tools.

Online Third Grade Curriculum
Our accredited online learning curriculum is aligned with the Arizona State Standards and designed to challenge and support growing learners. Third graders strengthen literacy skills through more advanced reading and writing, deepen their understanding of math concepts like multiplication and fractions, and explore science and social studies with hands-on, inquiry-based lessons.
Interactive projects and social-emotional learning activities round out the program, helping students develop problem-solving skills, teamwork, and confidence.
